What is a cure date?
Violations typically have a cure date of approximately 30 days after the violation is issued, during which time you can schedule the necessary repairs and testing to avoid the court date. All paperwork must be submitted by this date.
What if I miss my cure date?
Failure to correct violations within the cure date will require you to attend the court date, which typically results in a fine regardless of whether corrections were made in the interim since the cure date.
What happens if I miss both my cure and court date?
If you miss your cure date and do not attend your scheduled court date, you will pay an additional fine. You must request a new court date with the Environmental Control Board (ECB).
What is an ECB violation?
An Environmental Control Board (ECB) violation is issued by the Department of Buildings when a property does not comply with a part of the New York City Construction Codes and or Zoning Resolution.
What is a DOB violation?
A DOB Violation is a notice that a property is not in compliance with some provision of applicable law and includes an order from the Commissioner of the Department of Buildings to correct the violating condition.
